Can Saltwater Crocodiles live without their tails?

I just stumbled upon an article about Saltwater Crocodiles, and began to wonder if the tail of a Saltwater Crocodile was cut off, would it grow back over time, or would the severed wound heal like a lizard, or would the crocodile just die of excessive bleeding.
