How come I get scared when I see other people's blood, but not my own?

Like, I had this nasty sc that had pebbles in it that I had to pick out, but I was like "eh, whatever". At the most, I went "eeww". Then, though, the person sitting next to me got a cut that she showed me. It wasn't even bleeding, but I freaked out. Why?
